I am delighted to welcome you to the 2011-12 school year at the International School of London in Surrey. The faculty, staff and administrators feel a wonderful sense of excitement and promise as we start the new academic year. Our success, dedication and passion are reflected in the happy faces of our students and in our growing enrolment.

ISL Surrey is located in Woking, in the heart of beautiful Surrey, southwest of London. Surrey draws many international families as it combines beautiful green fields and country life with fast and direct rail connections into the centre of London. We welcome children of all nationalities into our school and we offer a true international education. We value the home culture and mother tongue so highly that we provide language classes for each child in their own mother tongue. We believe that the preservation of a child's cultural identity is the key to his or her success. We teach and model a love of learning. We strive to instil the values of civility, generosity and hospitality. We believe in the golden rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." We understand that a sound body is essential to a healthy mind and a positive spirit.

This year the children of our school will have a host of "firsts" to celebrate. Some will proudly write their own names for the first time. Others will solve their first multiplication problems or conduct their first science experiments. Others will be introduced to Shakespeare or to a new language. And, for ISL Surrey, 2010-11 will be the first year of our new middle year's program. Education at our school is a team effort where children, parents and teachers alike can share in the sense of accomplishment and the joy in celebrating these "firsts". Next to supportive parents, the most important factor in student achievement is a qualified, experienced and caring teacher. Our teachers are some of the very best. They go the extra mile to provide our students with the best possible educational environment.
