Welcome to the International School of London (ISL) London, a school now well into its fifth decade of success. The aim from the school’s beginning was to create a welcoming family school based upon the ideals of international mindedness, identity, mother tongue language development and a passion for learning. Since its 40th anniversary celebration in 2012, ISL London has grown into a school of nearly 450 students on two campuses. Our school has earned a global reputation as a leading International Baccalaureate (IB) school and is justifiably seen as one of the UK’s best and most experienced international schools.
One of the reasons for this success is dedication to the mission: ‘a culturally diverse community, which fosters a passion and enthusiasm for learning, through outstanding educational practices. Students' cultural and linguistic identities are valued and nurtured through our international curriculum and mother tongue programme. Our school develops the attitudes, skills and understanding needed for active and responsible contributions to both local and global communities’
There are so many ways our students develop to achieve this mission. ISL London has high academic standards, offering three IB programmes: the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. These three align to the unique developmental needs of students from age three through to pre-university. However, as we all know, education is much more than just academic study. This is why we provide an extensive combination of sports, service learning, artistic endeavour and other activities which challenge our students to grow and develop. Our location in the city of London provides fantastic opportunities to learn outside the classroom and we utilize this resource to the full. It is through the breadth and depth of the ISL education that our graduates progress to leading universities worldwide.
While ISL London has grown over the years, it still has a friendly family-like atmosphere. Visitors are welcomed by students, staff and parents from the minute they visit the campus. We are known for our hospitality and welcoming Parent Teacher Association. We come together around food and friendship for a variety of celebrations. Students at ISL develop a keen sense of inter-cultural understanding which is something of great value in our globalised world. ISL actively celebrates this diversity throughout the year from class activities to whole school events.
We are committed to helping ISL continue its ongoing growth and development. Just as we expect our individual students to learn and pursue excellence on a daily basis, it is our job as educators to make the commitment to developing ISL London. We are currently working on a new strategy to take ISL London towards its 50th anniversary with a renewed sense of purpose and with clear objectives for continual improvement. We hope you will visit our school and share our sense of community. We love it and hope you will too.
