ISL Surrey strives to meet the diverse language needs, both present and future, of all students.
Languages are at the heart of the ISL Surrey curriculum. All children have language lessons within the class day as part of the curriculum from age three. Students study either in their mother tongue language or, if they are English-speakers, take French lessons. Language and classroom teachers work together to ensure that concepts and vocabulary taught in the main classroom are reinforced in the language classes. An extensive Language Policy is available for parent review.
The Surrey Languages Team has been cited for its work, not just with students, but in recognising the vital role parents play in language development. The Team has won the Re:Locate Award for Excellence in Employee and Family Support and was Highly Commended for its Family Support Programme by the Forum for Expatriate Management. Regular seminars are held on Raising Bilingual Children.
